Yijun Zuo elected Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics

Professor Yijun Zuo has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS). Fellows of the IMS are selected based on “demonstrated distinction in research in statistics or probability,” and the fellowship process is highly competitive.

Dr. Zuo is a leading scholar in the area of data depth. For the past 20 years, he has made fundamental contributions to the development of data depth as a central tool in multivariate analysis. His work is quite broad in scope, including general and technical theoretical results, in addition to computational aspects. Dr. Zuo has published influential papers in other areas of mathematical statistics, such as robustness, and also in genetics literature.

In 2002, Dr. Zuo joined the Department of Statistics and Probability at MSU after serving on the faculty at Arizona State University. His pioneering and pathbreaking contributions to data depth and mathematical statistics has led to well-deserved recognition as an IMS Fellow. Congratulations, Dr. Zuo!
