STT Students honored with 2021 #iteachmsu Educator Award

Congratulations to STT PhD students Meiqi Liu, Sarah Manski, and Sanket Jantre for receiving the 2021 #iteachmsu Educator Award.

The #iteach MSU Educator Award honors faculty, teaching assistants, undergraduate learning assistants, instructional designers, academic advisers, and other educators who provide outstanding undergraduate, graduate, and professional education to students.

“I am deeply honored to receive the #iteachmsu Educator Award as a graduate student in the Department of Statistics and Probability at MSU,” said Meiqi Liu. “I want to take this opportunity to thank all the professors and faculty members who have guided me as role models. They not only impart academic knowledge and teaching techniques, but also inculcate important advice for life. I also appreciate my colleagues and students who have interacted with and helped me. I really have benefited a lot in the process and will continually improve myself as a TA to continue to make more contributions to our department.”

“I am honored to have received the #iteachmsu Educator Award,” said Sarah Manski.  “The immeasurable efforts by our department’s academic specialists, professors, GTAs, and ULAs to support teaching excellence can often feel like thankless work.  The Thank an Educator Initiative and the #iteachmsu Educator Awards have given myself and numerous other educators across campus, especially graduate assistants, simple yet tangible recognition for our hard work and a reminder that we are valued and appreciated as educators.”

“I am honored to be selected to receive the 2021 #iteachmsu Educator Award for my teaching and consulting work as a graduate student during my time at the Center for Statistical Training and Consulting (CSTAT),” said Sanket Jantre. “I would like to thank CSTAT statisticians and my clients for this heartening recognition. I would also like to thank the Department of Statistics and Probability for sponsoring my CSTAT research assistantship. I especially am glad that my online consulting work helped my clients during this uncertain and challenging academic year due to COVID-19.”

The Thank an Educator initiative, which launched in 2018 through #iteachmsu at the MSU Hub for Innovation in Learning and Technology, is a community-led effort aimed at valuing and celebrating the contributions that so many make to MSU. Visit https://iteach.msu.edu/iteachmsu/groups/thank-an-educator-features-and-award-recipients/stories/1892/challenge_id/275/level_id/2 to see a full list of educators who received the 2021 award.
