STT presents William L. Harkness Award to PhD student
PhD student Nilanjan Chakraborty was recently presented with the William L. Harkness Award for outstanding teaching by a graduate student. The award is made possible by a generous gift from William Harkness, a doctoral alumnus of the Statistics and Probability department. Recipients are chosen for their remarkable teaching based on student evaluations and faculty observations of teaching.
"I consider myself extremely honored to receive the William L. Harkness Award as a mark of appreciation for the teaching work I’ve been doing as a graduate student in the Department of Statistics and Probability at MSU,” said Chakraborty. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the professors I’ve worked with and who have helped me to hone my teaching skills and shaped me as a better teacher than I was before. I am fortunate to be a part of a department that is strongly dedicated towards producing excellent teachers for future generations."
