Nikkita Ngalande named Rhodes Scholar

Ms. Nikkita Ngalande, an Honors College senior majoring in actuarial science in the College of Natural Science, has been named a Rhodes Scholar from her home country of Zambia. This major is shared by the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Statistics and Probability (STT). Our STT faculty Dr. Gee Lee provides a quote for the official MSU-wide announcement, which also includes Ms. Ngalande's story:

The Rhodes scholarship, for study at the University of Oxford, is arguably the world's most prestigious education scholarship. Ms. Ngalande is only the 19th MSU student ever awarded this scholarship since it was established in 1902, and is one of only two citizens of Zambia, in Southern Africa, who received the scholarship this year, as per the yearly allocation of 100 scholarships across 23 countries and regions. STT is proud for Ms. Ngalande's extraordinary achievement, and that she chose Actuarial Science as her major.
