STT Hosts Hands-on Event at MSU Science Festival
The Department of Statistics and Probability (STT) hosted Rolling the Dice: Unveiling Normal Distributions at the MSU Science Festival on April 13, 2024, inside the STEM Teaching and Learning Facility on MSU's campus.
The STT booth provided a fun and hands-on learning experience, helping learners of all ages understand the concept of normal distribution through fun and interactive games with dice. About 130 kids played the game, and nearly 250 people stopped by.
Dr. Chih-Li Sung, STT professor, coordinated the event with the help of STT doctoral candidates Romain Boutelet, Junoh Heo, Chun-Yi Chang, and Andrews Boahen. Ashlynn Bott, STT secretary, also assisted.
The MSU Science Festival is a free annual celebration of science, fueled by some of the basic elements essential to scientific inquiry: curiosity, wonder, and discovery.
With events for the whole family to enjoy, the MSU Science Festival explores topics ranging from the ordinary to the extraordinary. From astronomy to music, and chemistry to microbiology; scientists and educators across the state are eager to share the wonder of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. Festival events will be held throughout April. Visit https://sciencefestival.msu.edu/.
