Finley selected as 2024 ASA Fellow
The American Statistical Association has announced the 2024 ASA Fellows, a prestigious distinction presented to 47 members this year, including Dr. Andrew Finley, professor in the Department of Statistics and Probability (STT). Fellows are honored for their professional contributions, leadership, and commitment to the field of statistical science. The designation of ASA Fellow has been a significant honor for nearly 100 years.
“I am honored to be named an ASA Fellow and grateful to my mentors and family for their guidance and support throughout my education and career,” said Dr. Finley, who holds a joint appointment in the departments of Forestry and STT. “Also, my deepest thanks to colleagues who wrote on my behalf and to the ASA Fellow selection committee.”
Dr. Finley’s interests lie in the fields of natural resource inventory, Bayesian statistics, spatial statistics, and statistical computing. In terms of application areas, his research focuses on spatio-temporal modeling of important economic and ecological forest attributes, indices of biodiversity, and ecological systems.
