Machine learning used to calculate nuclear landscape's limits

A collaboration including Drs. Neufcourt and Viens in STT, and nuclear physics colleagues from MSU's Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) has estimated the boundaries of nuclear existence by applying computational Bayesian statistics to nuclear models. The team is assessing the impact of current and future FRIB experiments. The College of Natural Science communications office has posted this press release about the discovery. The work appeared in Physical Review Letters, a high-impact broad-readership physics journal.
